State of Insurance in North Carolina Overview
Both the federal government and state governments are engaged in policy-driven discourse over insurance legislation. While most individuals have been focused on the health insurance debate in Washington, IFNC has been working on state-level insurance legislation here in North Carolina.
The most noticeable piece of legislation we worked on in the 2009 Session is what is now known as the Beach Plan. HB 1305 (The Beach Plan) was sent to the Governor Perdue to sign on August 7, 2009. This pragmatic piece of legislation ensures that claims are paid in the aftermath of a major storm or series of storms and gives clarity and certainty to insurers doing business in North Carolina.
We have also worked with insurance companies and legislators alike to craft policies that ensure that all North Carolinians benefit from a fair, vibrant and robust insurance market. You will find these specific bills and summaries under the Issue Information section of this page.

You will also find information on why you should, if not already, get involved with IFNC.
